Training

New service started September 2024.

I have been working hard again behind the scenes, gaining qualifications in dog training and have been teaching in puppy classes and progression classes for nearly two years and have covered for another local business while they have been on holiday. 

I now deliver my own puppy classes and progression classes after attending Steve Mann' 'Easy Peasy Puppy Course' a certified qualification with IMDT. Following on from this I have a keen interest in Scentwork Training and have undertaken the Tier 1 Trainers course, Judges course and Trial Managers course with Scentwork UK. This means as well as being able to train scent detection for pet dogs, I can organise and run trials and judge them up to Level 4. 

Here is some information about the Puppy Course Options:

Option 1: Puppy Course

Puppy Class is  50 minutes a week for 5 weeks, during this time you and your pup will explore the following topics, Loose lead walking, Playing with your pup, Reflex to name, Recall, Greeting people, pups and older dogs, Settle, Sit, down, stand, How to examine and brush your pup, (yes there is a technique) and problem solving. (Please note I have a tendency to run over, please allow a little extra time at the end of the session if you can)

Small classes of no more than 4 pups per class.

£120 payable by bank transfer - This will include support during the course via a whatsapp puppy group. 

Day and Time: Wednesday at 6pm,

Venue; Distington Community Centre, Church Street, Distington, CA14 5TE.

Option 2:

Puppy Course + 1-2-1 

£170 payable by bank transfer

Option 3:

Puppy course + 1-2-1 + Social Walk

£220 payable by bank transfer

 

Progression Classes:

Once the course finishes the fun doesn't have to stop there, continuing on from puppy foundation classes, we will continue strengthening the bond between pup and owner/s. Preparing for the The Kennel Club Good Citizen Award, exploring different reward  and fun based methods of training, clicker training, scentwork. Some sessions will be indoors and other classes outdoors weather permitting. The outdoor sessions may be at different locations.

There will be an opportunity to do further workshops in a specific training topic. Dates and venue to be confirmed.

All you need to bring to class is:

Collar/harness and a standard lead - Slip leads or flexi leads are not permitted for puppy class.

Treats of high value - for example, cheese, ham, tuna, chicken, sausage this can be mixed with your pups kibble (As long as your pup is not allergic to any of the example treats)

Puppy's bed or blanket

Brush or comb
